Introduction to Trans Hub.

Many trans people feel very comfortable and confident making changes that help society see them the way they want to be seen. This is called gender affirmation. TransHub has a lot of information on the website, some of which has been made into Auslan videos. There are videos on social and medical affirmation, and more information elsewhere on the website about legal affirmation.

Social affirmation are changes YOU decide to make that change how people might see you. You might want to change your name or how you present yourself. Social affirmation can happen at any time. You can pick the time that’s right for you to do any of these things.

Medical affirmation are changes you need to consult with a doctor or medical professional about. This might include access to hormones or how to proceed with surgery. It’s up to you if you want to take that step.

Legal affirmation are changes you talk to a legal professional about. It involves interaction with the legal system. You might change your name or gender on your passport or birth certificate. It’s up to you when or if you do that.

There are some Auslan videos that give more information about these things. There is also an Auslan video  called “Am I Trans Enough?”.

ACON established TransHub as an online platform to provide digital resources and information for trans people living in NSW. The information and resources are also useful for allies and health care professionals providing services for the trans community.

This video was produced by ACON for TransHub. For more information in Auslan you can check out the rest of our translations.
